Safari Ostrich Farm, established in 1956, is a working commercial ostrich farm and also an European Union approved export farm ; we have until recently allowed some visitors (under strict adherence to our rules and regulations) the opportunity to sit on a ostrich for a photo or those who weighed less than 60kg the chance to ride one of our ostriches.
We have made a company policy decision to stop the sitting and riding of our ostriches completely. We made this decision based on the fact that we want our professional guided tours to be a fun and educational experience and give our valued clients a newfound appreciation for these unique and ancient birds. We have introduced a tractor safari (new guided tour) which allows you to get really close and personal with these magnificent birds by means of getting inside their camps on the back of the tractor trailer ; something you would not otherwise be able to do since they will not allow you to walk into the camps.
We, therefore, want to inform you of our new company policy and to assure you that you will get the best “ostrich experience” of a working ostrich farm at Safari, with the focus on their fascinating nature and unique behaviour, their breeding cycle and the different attributes for the 3 sub-species on show at our farm.
Safari Ostrich Farm is a working commercial Ostrich Farm with the highest regard for ethical and professional farming practices. We at Safari Ostrich Farm, therefore call upon our valued guests to respect the following Guidelines when visiting our farm:
You are not allowed to pick up any feathers that you may see during the course of the guided tour since they are untreated.
No unaccompanied children are allowed on the guided tours.
Please switch your phones to silent or vibrate only whilst on tour for the sake of your fellow visitors.
We want to enlighten our visitors about these incredible and unique birds by means of our professionally guided tours and hence give everybody visiting us a newfound appreciation for Ostriches.
